WE THE PEOPLE
FLAG DESIGN
INSPO & DESIGN
I was assigned to design a variant of the USA Betsy Ross Flag. Rather than sticking to the traditional red, white, and blue, I aimed for a bolder, more masculine aesthetic.
To achieve this aesthetic, I drew inspiration from the grunge style. I incorporated a distressed texture to create a worn, rugged appearance and used messy, paint-like strokes for the stripes to enhance this imperfect feel.
Instead of traditional blue, I opted for black to create a bolder, more striking look. Originally, I wanted to find a typeface resembling the "We the People" script from the Constitution but ultimately chose a modern interpretation that "closely" mirrors the original. I believe this helps reinforces the masculine vibe while maintaining a strong
historical connection.
